Once again, Trader Joe’s helps me sneak vegetables into this kid. They have a new fruit leather that is mostly apple sauce, but also has a half-serving of vegetables: a mix of pumpkin, beet, carrot, broccoli, tomato, and celery. And he seems to really like it. So it will now be on our regular Trader Joe’s list, along with frozen veggie burgers, apple sauce with carrot and pumpkin, guacahummus, and frozen mixed veggies. He also eats broccoli most of the time, but I’m afraid to serve it too often or he’ll burn out on that, too.
We went to a birthday party and I have some adorable pictures of the three boys sitting at a tiny table together, eating pizza. The birthday boy just turned two, Noah’s almost 1.5, and the other boy just turned one, and they are all so serious about their slices. Then Noah played catch with the birthday boy- they were playing great together, except that they were in a raised part of the yard, so sometimes the ball would escape down the embankment and I was sure he would go chasing it.

Noah has hair! He might even need a haircut soon. He looks kind of angry with his pizza though. Did you put vegetables on it?

Sounds like a good day – get together with the guys, play some ball, then go for pizza and sippy cups. He’ll be well practiced by the time he hits college!
Consensus in the staff room is that making most kids eat veggies is a challenge. Just keep trying; eventually he’ll be old enough for the “eat it or you don’t get to eat anything else” threat to work (unless he’s a supertaster, in which case, well, you all have my sympathies).
